I often have a lot of trouble blogging. I feel like my blog either gets too me-centric, or that I get stuck in some form of writing rut. I'm frequently held back from posting because I'm convinced that the post would be too boring, too silly, too aggressive, etc. Restraint is good, but sometimes I probably take it a bit far. I want to just sit down and WRITE, but I have trouble deciding what to write about. This usually results in me getting about halfway through a blog post before deciding that no-one would ever want to read it. I have a heap of half-finished drafts lurking around this blog.

I've been trying to think of a way to get out of this...and I think I may have hit on something. What I'm about to ask strikes me as a potentially really bad idea, but I'm going for it, anyway, because I have a habit of leaping headfirst into bad ideas. ;-) If it flops utterly, I'll pick myself up, dust myself off, and forge ahead.

Anyway, I'm asking you, my patient readers, what you would like to see more of on here.

Something you'd like to know about me? (Though I'm really not that interesting).
Spiritual experiences from my walk with God? (Please be specific...'cause 'spiritual experiences' is REALLY vague).
Thoughts/opinions on a particular subject?
The backstory of some poem, post, or picture that I've shared?
Anything at all, really.

I'm eaten with curiosity to see who comes up with the best/most creative/funniest suggestion.

  1. Funny stories...embarrassing moments...events that defined you...more about you in general, I guess.

  2. Janie,
I always love whatever you post! Maybe that sounds silly, but it's true. I just want to hear what you want to say, whatever is on your mind; it's your blog, after all. And don't be afraid to be weird. Usually the posts where you start off by apologizing and saying how 'no one will want to read this'-- those are the best! They always make me think hard. So just keep writing fearlessly!

  3. I love reading anecdotes of your life and when you share stories about your adorable nieces and nephews (especially since I can't hear that stuff in person right now!)But I also love stories about what God is showing you and how He is working in your life. You already do that, but I just wanted to encourage you to keep doing it! God convicts, encourages, and challenges me sometimes when I see Him shining through others. Continue to shine His light!
